Painting and decorating, inside and out
Interior and exterior painting, taken on because customers wanted one team for the whole finish rather than handing over halfway through.
This one came about the same way the brickwork did. People kept saying some version of the same thing: the plastering is done, can you just finish it off rather than me finding a decorator and waiting another three weeks.
It makes sense. The person who plastered the wall knows exactly when it is ready to paint, what state the surface is in, and where the tricky bits are. Nothing gets lost in the handover between two trades.
Interior painting
Freshly plastered rooms taken from bare plaster through mist coat to finished decoration.
Existing rooms prepared and repainted, including filling, sanding and making good before anything else happens.
Ceilings, walls, woodwork, doors and frames.
Hallways and stairwells, including the awkward heights.
Exterior painting
Rendered walls painted once the render has properly cured, whether that is new work or an existing finish being refreshed.
Masonry, brickwork and pebbledash.
Exterior woodwork, doors, fascias and window frames, prepared properly rather than painted over flaking material.
Front steps, porches and boundary walls to tie the whole frontage together.
Why the prep matters more than the paint
Most paint jobs that fail early were not failures of paint. They were failures of preparation: painting over damp, over dust, over flaking material, or onto plaster that had not finished drying.
Fresh plaster in particular needs to be genuinely dry and evenly coloured before it takes a mist coat. Paint it too soon and it looks fine for a fortnight and then goes patchy. Steve will tell you when it is ready, which is one of the advantages of the same person doing both parts of the job.

Painting & Decorating, answered
Either. Plenty of customers have Steve do both so the finish is handled end to end, but painting can be booked on its own.
The plaster needs to be fully dry and evenly coloured first. How long that takes depends on the room, the ventilation and the time of year, and Steve will tell you when it is genuinely ready rather than guessing.
It depends on the conditions. Exterior paint needs the right temperature and a dry surface to go on and last, so Steve will be honest about whether it is worth doing now or waiting.
Yes, interior and exterior woodwork, doors, frames and fascias, prepared properly before anything is put on.
